Why Being Self-Centred In Business Will Cost You

being selfish in business is a bad longterm strategy

Asking for what you need and want in business is all about…well…what YOU need and want. Right? It doesn’t mean that you’re selfish, but self-interest definitely comes into play. After all, you’re a business owner, and how are you going to get ahead if you’re not looking out for #1? But in a negotiation, one of the best ways to make sure you’re meeting your goals is to help the other guy meet theirs. When you’re coming up with a solution – a price, a contract, a timeline – ask yourself, ‘What’s in it for us?’ and then celebrate a joint victory.
